Managing Winter Energy Bills
The extremely cold temperatures this winter are having an impact on energy bills for all Boone Electric Cooperative members. Several days in January saw high temperatures in the teens, with overnight lows well below zero. Frigid temperatures like these mean an increase in energy usage as members attempt to keep their homes warm. An increase in energy usage results in increased heating costs.
Though wind chill has nothing to do with temperature as you heat the home, it can play a factor in cold air leaking into the home through cracks and unsealed spaces. Help keep the cold air out by sealing any cracks or gaps you find around windows, doors or plumbing access.
